How to Make a 3-D Wreath on a Card

I just love the CTMH Stamp set "Remarkable Wreath."  But I don't have it yet, so I came up with something to tide me over until that time.  I do have a small maple leaf punch, so I thought that might work well for the greenery.

What do you think?  I used Olivia papers, cocoa cardstock and ink, and additional colors for the Fall leaves (from CTMH).

I hope this little pic tutorial might help, if you wish to make this yourself.  Following is the steps I took to make the wreath.

I used a circle that was 2 1/2 inches and it fit nicely on the 5 1/2 x 4 1/4  card.  You can adjust the size to fit what your working on.  Taking mounting tape in 1/2" pieces I went around the outside of the circle.

Now taking the 1/2 inch tape pieces I cut them in half diagonally to make a pie shape.  This fills in the spaces around the circle.  There will be extra that will over hang and this you will just cut off.  (The circle on the bottom right of the picture shows what it looks like before you trim away the extra.  The circle on the upper right of the picture shows what it looks like after you trim away the extra.)

Now, taking small mounting squares, go around the entire circle trying to stay in the middle of the previous tape that was put down.

Here is where you get to add your foilage.  (Please note: After all the wreath is completed, I cut out the center of the wreath.  It was easier to handle during the  making of the wreath  to leave the center in until you are done.)

Well I hope that your week is going well.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will do my best to help.

Happy Crafting!!  Sending a smile, Joanie

I don't have that punch, but I can certainly use leaf images from the new CTMH Cricut cartridge to achieve a similar look. What a terrific idea! Thanks for the handy tutorial. I wouldn't have thought to use the smaller foam squares on top of the larger ones to add rounded depth to the wreath. Nicely done! :-)

Thank you so much for your possitive feed back on the wreath card. I really appreciate your kindness. The number of leaves used were around 50-60, and that will depend also how big your leaf punch is. The one I used was a 1/2 inch or less. Hope that helps answer your question. Have fun creating, Sending you smiles, Joanie
