It's Going to Be a "Use What You Have" Christmas Card Year

I'm going to see if I can make all my Christmas cards using materials already in my craft room.  Not only that, I'm going to try extra hard to U.U.S. (Use Up Scraps).

Here's a card I made for Color My Heart's Color Dare Challenge #62 using Olive and Sweet Leaf:

I had a length of Olive Green cardstock that was 4 1/2" x 7".  So, I simply folded it in half to create this 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" card.

Colonial White and Cocoa cardstocks and embellishments act as neutrals and help balance the two greens on the card.

Here's a close-up of the "ticket."  Instead of cutting the image out on the Cricut, I simply used the scissors along the straight edges and sides.  Then, I took my small hole punch and punched the scallops to make it look more like a ticket.  (This made the picky side of me oh-so-happy as the curves punched out much better than I could have ever dreamed of cutting them by hand.)  :-)

Thanks for stopping by to take a look!

I hope this inspires you to begin your Christmas cards--if you haven't already started.  :-)

Blessings,
Brenda

Wonderful card, Joanie! I love that you've made it all with scraps--I have lots of scraps and hate to throw them out as I know they can be used somehow. I love how you finished the "ticket" with a hole puncher--very clever! Thanks for playing along with us at Color My Heart Color Dare this week--please join us again soon!

What a great idea to use only scraps. I love the details right down to the scallops on the ticket! Thanks for joining us at Color My Heart this week.

Great card! Sometimes my most creative cards come from challenging myself to use my stash. This ticket stamp set is one of my faves. Thanks for reminding me it is in my stash!

I too am making cards out of my abundant Christmas paper/embellishment stash! It's been fun and I'm making lots and lots of cards! Thanks for the inspiration to use the scraps...that's what I struggle with the most. Maybe that needs to be my goal for this weekend.

That is a GREAT pre-New Year resolution--using up the stash, and especially the scraps. I applaud you! And also really love this little card--some great details, like the embossed background and hand-cut ticket. Beautiful addition to this week's Color My Heart dare, too.
