This is a traditional Gate Fold card that opens in the middle--behind the picture and sentiment.
Opened up, it looks like this. Notice how I only put adhesive on only half of the Olive-green-backed cat image. I did the same thing with the sentiment--only putting it on the side that would stick to the door. Doing this allows you to open the card. Forgetting to do this will glue your card shut--which could be funny as one of those "trick" cards for a birthday.
Decorating the inside of a card makes it even better. See how I used colors from the card front and stamped sentiments from the "Cozy Kitty" stamp set and "For Every Occasion." The flower comes from an older CTMH set, "Connections." I used that flower because it reminded me a little bit of the flower pattern on the pillow (also CTMH paper).
To make a gate fold card, begin with a piece of 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" cardstock.
Score the two lines on the cardstock---both of them just 2 1/8" away from the edges of the two longer sides. Fold along the score lines and you've created two "doors." Decorate however you like. Remember: It's your art. There is no wrong way to do it. It's all your own. :-)
Here's a little decorating tip: If you want to make the cat appear to be sitting on the patterned pillow, just stamp the image twice--once on the patterned paper and once on the color you want the kitty to be. Cut out both and layer. In the picture above, I even sponged around the edge of the pillow to give it a little shading.
Thank you so much for stopping by! :-)
Blessings,
Brenda
