Let's call this length Al. Then you could use the same method as for the original triangle, only you'd have to cut a square Al by Al, mark the centers, draw a faint line down from the centers going from the edge toward the middle of the paper, but you only have to draw it partway. Then start at each star point and measure diagonally to where the ruler hits your faint line at exactly Al inches. Do this two more times and you'll be able to cut out an equilateral triangle with A1 sides that will cover your original triangle except for a quarter-inch border all around. Woohoo! Who says girls don't need math! But if you put the zero point of your ruler on one corner and place it diagonally across the paper, not aiming at the opposite corner but at the center line, find the point where the 12-inch mark hits the center line. That will be about 2 inches from the edge. Doing this three times will give you three sides, 12 inches each. Ingenious! I'm sure that in the last two years, you have figured this out. So, If you measure the height of the triangle, from the top tip down throught the middle to the center of the bottom edge, you will get the height of the triangle. For a quick way to cut inserts--no matter the size of your card--reduce the height by 1/4" and cut the inserts out on the cricut. OR You can cut a template by making two cards and cutting out and saving the middle triangle. Then trim away, like, an 1/8" on each side and save it in a file for whenever you make this card. Hope this helps a little.
