How to Make Miniature Daffodils for a Card

My husband came into the house yesterday with a miniature daffodil in his hand and said you should try to make one of these.  So that is exactly what I did.  So what do you think?  Did I achieve my goal?  If you like them,  I will be posting directions on how I made these.

I wasn't happy with the original card that I had made so I made another and it is much improved I think.  Below is the instructions how I made the Daffodil's.

Using a Circle punch, 1" for the larger Daffodil's and 3/4" for the smaller Daffodil's
I took my Fiskars scissors and went around the edge of the circle to give it the frilly edge.  Note you barely even cut around the edge, you just want to notch it a little.  It will help give it the natural look when finished.

Now with your scissors cut in about 1/2 inch about 5 or 6 times around the circle.  This will allow the paper to cup.

Now I used my McGill flower sharper to cup the flowers.  If you do not have one of these just use the wooded end of your paper piercing tool, it works just fine.  Working in a circular motion going around the outside edge and pushing down slightly. Once you reach the center push down to cup the paper.

I used the AP Cricut Cartridge for the main flower.  You will find the flower on page 39.  I cut out both 2" and 11/2" flowers.  First ink edges in Creme Brulee and then working from the back of the flower cup each petal.

Now turn your flower inked side up and placing your tool in the center of the flower cup the center.  This helps the center of the flower set nicely when glued.

This is how I make the very center of the flower.  I enlarged the work so you might be able to see all details better.  Using a strip of paper about 1/4" deep and 1" long I just clip little slits along the edge being careful  not  to cut through.  Next I use one of my crochet hooks to roll it.  Note this needs glued so it is easier to roll it now and then open it up and place the glue on it and then reroll it up again.

Well I hope I didn't confuse you tooooooo badly with my directions.  If you have any questions just leave me a comment and I will try to help.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, Smiles ;-)  Joanie

  1. These minis are so sweet! Did you use the AP cartridge? I can't wait to hear how you made the middles. :-) I love the long leaves, too. They're very real. :-)
