How to Create a Wood Grain Look on a Card

This was a fun card I put together for my son and son-in-law's birthdays.  It was a lot of fun to make the wood with CTMH ink on the birdhouse.  Hope you will feel inspired to try making wood for one of your projects.

I was asked if I could share how I made the wood for the card.  So here goes....

I started with white card stock.  I used 6 different inks to make the wood.  They are, starting with the lightest color, (Bamboo, Brown Bag, Desert Sand, Chocolate, Cocoa, and then Black.)

I used a sponge to apply the color.  With the first two colors I just ponced it on.  Next working in an up and down motion to simulate the grain of the wood I applied the ink until I was satisfied with the color I wanted.  With the help of a ruler I was able to make the boards, and a few nail marks and your done.  I sure hope this was helpful, if you have anymore questions please drop me a line and I will do my best to help.

Thank you so very much everyone for stopping by, and especially for all the wonderful comments that have been left on my blog.

Sending Smiles,oanie

You have the cutest idea's! Would you be willing to post the instructions to make the "wood". I did it a long time ago but can't seem to "get there" again.
Would love to bookmark you and check back for help with that :-)

I agree with MistyGirl. I, too, would love to see a "wood" making tutorial. :-)
